Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6332 (1954)

The Rolex 6332 is known as the semi bubble back, a transitional reference between the domed bubble backs and the Oyster Perpetual as we know it today. It keeps a bit of both worlds: a gently domed caseback, and flat, sharp case sides that give it a nice and full presence on the wrist despite the declared 34mm sizing.

On this example the case is very crisp, with good definition on the lugs, something very rare on these models.

The dial is the original radium lumed 3-6-9 Explorer layout. Over the different decades, the radium slowly ate into the dial, leaving the warm tone and the spotting you see around the markers. No two of these dials have aged the same way, and it makes it for a beautiful patina.

It sits on a riveted Oyster bracelet with no stretch at all, which is not easy to find at this age, since most of them loosened up after years of daily wear.
