About Brutto
A Fascination with Craftsmanship
I always felt a mysterious fascination with craftsmanship and fine mechanical tools, objects that are both beautiful and precise. I wondered how it was possible to create something so small, yet so full of artistry.
My journey into serious watch collecting began with an Omega Speedmaster. I was struck not only by its design but also by its place in one of humanity’s greatest achievements. Since then, my passion has grown into a deep interest in the mechanisms, techniques, and artistry behind watches.
From Finance to Watchmaking
At some point in my professional career, I decided to turn my passion into something more serious. I paused my career in banking and finance to train as a watchmaker at Switzerland’s most respected watchmaking school in Neuchâtel.
That decision transformed a passion into a profession, and today, I continue that path here in Zurich.
Italian Roots, Swiss Standards
I grew up in Italy, surrounded by a culture where style and heritage are part of everyday life. That sense of tradition shapes the way I approach watches: with respect for their character and history.
In Zurich, I combine this Italian sense of style with Swiss watchmaking standards. Every mechanical watch I service or sell is worked on with the same care as Switzerland’s top ateliers, following WOSTEP methods and professional standards.
The Brutto Philosophy
Brutto means ugly in Italian, but ugly is not always bad. For us, it represents honesty and authenticity. A vintage watch carries the marks of its past: some scratches, patina, the traces of a life already lived. These details are not flaws, they are part of its beauty.
At Brutto, we believe that a watch should tell its story openly. We don’t hide imperfections with unnecessary polishing or cosmetic tricks. Instead, we preserve the character of each timepiece and ensure it works to the highest standards.
Not new. Not Perfect. Just Real. Just Brutto.
The Atelier in Zurich
Brutto Watches is based at Stampfenbachstrasse 32, near the Landesmuseum and Zurich HB.
The atelier is by appointment only, so every client receives full attention. It is a space dedicated to precision, passion, and respect for timepieces.
A Shared Passion
Brutto for me is more than a shop or an atelier, it’s a philosophy. My goal is to restore and curate watches with honesty, care, and respect for their character.
Every client who comes to Brutto shares in this passion. Whether you’re looking to service a cherished watch or discover a new piece, my role is to make sure these stories stay alive.
